Greetings to one and all!

“The achievements of the organization are the combined efforts of each individual.”

-Vince Lombardi

Dental public health field has been expanding in scope providing leadership and expertise in population-based dentistry, oral health surveillance, policy development, community-based disease prevention and health promotion, and the maintenance of the dental safety net. We public health dentists can certainly contribute to improve the oral health of the public by innovation in education, training, research, advocacy, and related programs which translate into a commitment for dental excellence. Since the growth comes only through the continuous effort and change, population strategies need to be implemented, to reverse the negative trends prevailing today and to help people lead a healthy life with a healthy smile.

My best wishes to the Organizing Committee of the forthcoming National PG Convention (22nd and 23rd July at Rajahmundry, Andhra Pradesh) of IAPHD, 2018, for a meaningful and learning experience event in every aspect.

The IAPHD started in the year 1993. Started with only 24 members today, the membership strength is now around 1500. This is one of the largest organized bodies of Public Health Dentists in the world today. By definition, Public Health Dentistry is the “art and science of preventing oral diseases, promoting oral health, and prolonging the health of all oral tissues through organized community efforts.” The association had, therefore, decided in 2015 to join with the community and celebrate a NATIONAL PUBLIC HEALTH DENTISTRY DAY on June 19th of each year. This is the first of its kind in the world. The program was dedicated to the nation on June 19, 2015, at the IX National PG convention at Nellore. This is the 4th year of the program. I request you all to celebrate the same in a grand manner.

Looking forward to meet you all at the Postgraduate Convention at Rajahmundry.

Best wishes to all the examination going postgraduates.
