Greetings!

Welcome to the first issue of the year 2020.

A very happy new year!

First of all, I would like to sincerely thank all the members of Indian Association of Public Health Dentistry to have given me the opportunity of being the editor of this prestigious journal for the second time.

I sincerely thank all the authors, reviewers, editorial board members, office bearers of IAPHD, all the members, Medknow, and readers for extending their continuous support and cooperation for bringing out the first issue of the year 2020 successfully.

I am very delighted to see an increase in the number of manuscript submission with different study designs for our journal at the start of this new year. Hope the same enthusiasm continues to be there with the authors.

I request the authors to kindly adhere to the authorship criteria according to the ICMJE recommendations, which gives the following four criteria:

  1. Substantial contributions to the conception or design of the work; or the acquisition, analysis, or interpretation of data for the work
  2. Drafting the work or revising it critically for important intellectual content
  3. Final approval of the version to be published
  4. Agreement to be accountable for all aspects of the work in ensuring that questions related to the accuracy or integrity of any part of the work are appropriately investigated and resolved.

In addition to being accountable for the parts of the work he or she has done, an author should be able to identify which coauthors are responsible for specific other parts of the work. In addition, authors should have confidence in the integrity of the contributions of their coauthors. Those who do not meet all four criteria for authorship should be acknowledged. The rationale for the four criteria for authorship is to reserve the status of authorship for those who deserve credit and can take responsibility for the work. Also, authorship confers credit and has important academic, social, and financial implications. Authorship also implies responsibility and accountability for published work.

Best wishes
