“Nothing in Life is to be feared; it is only to be Understood. Now is the Time to Understand More so that we May Fearless.”
–Marie Curie.
Dear Members,
The current novel coronavirus has affected dental practice like all other medical and nonmedical services. Due to aerosol involvement, the risk of cross-infection could be high between practitioners and patients. There have been guidelines and strict infection control protocols to be followed. I am sure the humanity will emerge successfully as in the past. The most important is how and what we learn in this pandemic episode.
There is a greater need to have refresher courses for practicing dentists and dental public health personal on new infection control strategies and outreach activities. Moreover, the curriculum in dental colleges should be expanded to include competencies in pandemic and disaster relief. The aim of JIAPHD is to give a highly readable and valuable addition to the literature in the field of public health dentistry which will serve as an indispensable reference tool for years to come and provide the readers of JIAPHD with a new, well-constructed, informative, and educational journal.
Finally, I encourage all members to take the necessary precautions during this pandemic and volunteer to serve the community and the nation.
I wish the Editor and her editorial team all the best.
Long live IAPHD.
