  National Toothbrushing Day Top

Centre- Kalinga Institute of Dental Sciences, Bhubaneswar

On the occasion of National Toothbrushing Day, observed very year on the 7th of November a free Oral Health Screening & Treatment camp was organised at Nahuni village, Raj Kanika, Kendrapada District, Odisha. A team comprising of 14 Dental Specialists, Post graduates and interns reached the destination by the 'Mobile Dental Van'. Following which, Dr. Vinay S, addressed the gathering on the purpose and benefits of their visit. Our prime motto was to stress upon the importance of toothbrushing their teeth twice daily whilst demonstrating proper toothbrushing technique with the help of toothbrushing model and posters oral health education was delivered by the Post graduates Dr. Samikshya Jena, Dr. Yagnaseni Mandal Dr. Payal Dash and Dr. Priyanka Brahma. Subsequently, oral screening stations and treatment procedures were initiated. A total of 155 patients were screened out of which 43 tooth extractions were carried out.

COORDINATORS: Dr. Vinay S, Professor, Department of Public Health Dentistry coordinated this activity, under the able guidance of Dr. Ashwini Kar, Principal, and Dr. Jugajyoti Pathi, Assistant Director, (Administration).

  World Mental Health Day Top

Dental education and training can directly contribute to the development of psychological distress in students which can lead to catastrophic consequences such as impaired academic performance, impaired competency and treatment errors. Along with that COVID-19 pandemic also hast taken toll on the students therefore the need of hour is to address the mental health issues of the students.

On the occasion of World Mental Health Day, Department of Public Health Dentistry, Surendera Dental College and Research Institute, Sri Ganganagar, Rajasthan organized a Live Webinar Session in the college for the dental students at 11th October 2021 on topic “Mind Your Wellbeing” by Mrs. Ankita Arora an eminent speaker in the field of psychology. The total number of 121 under & post graduate students attended this webinar.
