A Survey on Knowledge, Attitude and Practice {Kap study) of Oral Health Among School Children of Bangalore City

A KAP study was conducted to assess the oral health among 400 school children of Bangalore city. Two stage sampling was conducted (a list of schools was obtained from the commissioner�SQ�s office Bangalore. The schools had 2 zones north and south zone, each zone had 3 subdivisions each subdivision had one ABO under his jurisdiction). From each subdivisions 67 students were randomly selected from the schools, in the age group of 10-13 yrs. A questionnaire on knowledge, attitude and practices was framed, validation of the questionnaire was done after conducting a pilot study on 25 school children. .85 % of school children had good knowledge, 67.2 % of the school children had good attitude towards oral health, 28.6% of the school children had good oral hygiene practices. The data was analysed using SPSS version 10.0, chi square test was used to find the significance, p value < 0.05 was statistically significant.
