Background: Few studies reported the relationship between concentration of fluoride in drinking water and eruption of permanent teeth. Aim and Objectives: The aim of the present study was to find the relationship of fluoride concentration of drinking water supply and prevalence of dental fluorosis in permanent teeth, eruption of permanent teeth. Materials and Methods: The present survey was carried out in three villages of Hungund Taluk, Bagalkot District, Karnataka, India, with the fluoride concentration of 1.36 ppm, 0.381 ppm and 0.136 ppm. The children aged between 9 and 15 with the permanent teeth present in the childSQs mouth were examined for dental fluorosis using DeanSQs index according to WHO criteria. Number of primary and permanent teeth were recorded in the survey questionnaire. Result: Results from present study revealed that percentage of children with severe fluorosis increased with the increase in concentration of drinking water. No statistical significant difference were found in the eruption of teeth between the groups. Conclusion: In our study we did not find any significant effect of concentration of fluoride in drinking water on eruption of permanent teeth or exfoliation of deciduous teeth.
